Encore/ZIF G4 500 MHz supports from Mac® OS 8.0 through Mac OS X (Version 10.2.8 for Beige G3 systems and 10.4.x for G3 Blue & White and G4 PCI Graphics systems).
Encore/ZIF G4 1.0 GHz supports from Mac OS 8.6 through Mac OS X Version 10.2.8 in Beige G3 systems.
Encore/ZIF G4 1.0 GHz supports from Mac OS 9.2 through 10.4.x in G3 Blue & White and G4 PCI Graphics systems; OS 9.2 is required to perform firmware updates*.
*Encore/ZIF G4 1.0 GHz upgrade requires the installation of a supplied firmware patch; you must boot your computer in Mac OS 9.2 (installed on a local hard drive) in order to run the firmware updater application.
Replacing a G3 processor? When you upgrade with a G4, even greater performance improvements are possible with AltiVec™-enhanced applications running under Mac OS 9 or later.
OS X Update: All Encore/ZIF upgrades are fully compatible with any version of OS X that can be natively installed on your Macintosh. In some cases, users may need to download a small software updater. Most configurations are compatible as shipped by Sonnet.

**Power Macintosh G3 Blue & White users must disconnect any installed SCSI adapter cards and SCSI drive(s) from their computer before running the Sonnet Software installer and installing the Encore/ZIF G4. After disconnecting the SCSI card and drive(s), the computer must be booted from a hard drive connected to the internal ATA bus, and then the Sonnet installer (which installs files necessary to support Encore/ZIF G4) must be run. The SCSI card and drive(s) may be reconnected after the software installer has been run. |
