Data Memory Systems reiterates the importance of RAM in everyday computers

Computers are undoubtedly a part of modern life. A device to make work easier and faster, and a technological way to entertain as the world evolves evermore. But over time, these much relied-upon devices start to slow down and show signs of age. However when a computer does begin to slow down, many are quick to jump to the conclusion that the internal hard drive memory is to blame. But according to one of the US’ most prevalent suppliers of computer memory, this is not necessarily the case, and it could in fact be the RAM that is causing things to slow down.

A spokesperson, from Data Memory Systems, said, “After a period of use, many devices either start to show signs of a slowdown, or indeed highlight that it is running out of space. All too often people are quick to jump to the conclusion that it is the hard drive that is full, and completely bypass the RAM completely.”

In order to attain what the issue is, the experts suggest doing a bit of investigative work. Many programs nowadays require a lot of RAM in order to run, so checking the requirements of regularly used proems is a good place to start. Once this has been done, it’s time to check how much RAM the machine has built in. 4GB is now the standard, enabling it to run smoothly. Therefore anything below that could signal a RAM-related issue.

In order to check whether the computer is struggling due to a lack of RAM, simply open the Task Manager and look for the memory tab. If this, when the usual programs are running, is anything past 85%, the RAM is usually to blame and users will need to replace it in order to ensure it is able to run efficiently going forwards.

The spokesperson, added, “It’s important people don’t jump to conclusions without doing a bit of investigative work as this could lead to wasted money spent and them being back at square one.”

Data Memory Systems has been at the forefront of computer memory in America for 30 years. It boasts one of the largest ranges of computer memory available on the internet, to help occasional computer users and pros alike get the most out of their machines.
