Celebrate ‘National Clean Out Your Computer Day’

February 8th saw National Clean Out Your Computer Day take place all over the country, with thousands of Americans giving their device a much-needed ‘Spring clean’ to help get them running faster. Data Memory Systems, one of the US’ leading computer memory providers, is getting in on the act, with a multitude of tips, hints and solutions to help clean up computers and enhance their performance.

A spokesman for Data Memory Systems says, “Even if you missed National Clean Out Your Computer Day, you can still get on board and give your digital devices a new lease of life. By physically cleaning the device itself, as well as engaging in a bit of digital clean-up, you can restore your device to its former glory and enjoy a computer or laptop that seems twice as fast as it used to be.”

The experts at Data Memory System advise starting on the physical clean-up. Computers and laptops accumulate high amounts of dust, and this can actually have a big impact on the performance of the machine overall. Plus, keyboards, touchpads and mice can be a breeding ground for bacteria. The exterior of the device is simple to clean up – rubbing alcohol and damp cotton swabs can get it looking sparkling on the outside. But when it comes to cleaning the inside of your machine – the fan, the air filters and other such internal components – it might be better to take it to an expert if you’re not confident cracking open your own computer.

The next step is to start the clean-up of all the programs, software and files that you don’t use or haven’t used in a while. Apple and PC devices have programs which can pinpoint the things you aren’t using and help you get rid of them – they’re usually found in the system tools. Go through your files and folders and make sure all of your digital clutter is named and archived properly into folders – separate your music from your movies, your work documents from your personal files, and arrange your photographs into albums to neaten up your machine.

Temporary files can also clutter up computers, so it’s worth deleting them every few weeks. Clear your web browser’s cache, remove all unnecessary files from your ‘Downloads’ folder, then find the ‘Temporary Internet Files’ folder on your computer and empty it.

The Data Memory Systems spokesperson added, “Sometimes, no matter how much clutter you remove from your computer, it still seems like a shadow of its former self. But rather than splashing out on a new device, there’s a way you can enhance the performance for less. By installing new RAM memory modules, you can breathe new life into your computer and have it firing on all cylinders once more, for the fraction of the cost of a new machine.”

Data Memory Systems offers a multitude of memory solutions for Apple and PC users, from internal RAM memory to external hard drives. Upgrades are simple, and all modules come with a lifetime guarantee. To find out more, visit the website: www.datamemorysystems.com
